The ACS Surgical Sustainability Team for Action and Innovation (SUSTAIN) Collaborative invites surgical teams to participate in the Preference Card Optimization Campaign, a year-long initiative that provides resources and guidance to help teams review, update, and evaluate surgical preference cards for a high-volume procedure.

ACS SUSTAIN is a community for surgeons and the broader surgical care team to learn, collaborate, and implement practical sustainability initiatives in surgical care, and the Preference Card Optimization Campaign is designed to help teams reduce unnecessary supplies, improve efficiency, and support more sustainable surgical care.

Campaign participants can earn up to 16 CME credits or 16 nursing contact hours by completing eligible campaign activities and required surveys. Webinar attendance alone does not qualify participants for Campaign credit.

As part of the Preference Card Optimization Campaign, the SUSTAIN Collaborative will host “How to Review and Optimize a Preference Card” 5:00 pm ET on October 20.

During the webinar, participants will learn how to:

  • Apply a structured process for reviewing and updating surgical preference cards
  • Identify unnecessary, duplicate, outdated, or rarely used items
  • Develop a feasible plan with their team to implement an optimized preference card
