Help Strengthen Surgeon Compensation Data

Help build a clearer picture of surgeon compensation while gaining access to data that can help you better understand your own compensation and employment contract.

The American College of Surgeons is conducting the ACS Compensation Survey powered by Resolve. By sharing information about your compensation and employment agreement, you will contribute to a growing source of surgeon-reported data designed to provide more meaningful comparisons across specialties, regions, and practice characteristics.

Take the survey for a chance to win a free Resolve contract review ($1,099 value). The survey takes approximately 10 minutes to complete and is open through November 14, 2026.

Why Participate?

Reliable, relevant compensation information can be difficult to find. Broad salary ranges do not always account for differences in specialty, location, practice setting, or the individual terms that make up a surgeon's employment agreement.

Your participation will help ACS develop more detailed compensation insights for surgeons while giving you access to resources designed to help you understand how your own compensation compares.

Survey respondents will receive:

  • Personalized compensation insights. The ACS Compensation Dashboard will allow you to compare elements of your compensation and contract with data reported by surgeons with similar characteristics.
  • Early access to the ACS Compensation Report. Respondents will receive the full report before its general release.
  • An opportunity to win a prize. Participants will be entered into a drawing for a Resolve physician contract review ($1,099 value).

The more surgeons who participate, the more detailed the resulting data can be across areas such as subspecialty, region, and years in practice.

About the ACS Compensation Dashboard

The ACS Compensation Dashboard will use surgeon-reported data to provide members with more relevant compensation benchmarks.

Rather than providing a single compensation percentile, the dashboard is designed to help surgeons evaluate individual elements of their compensation and employment agreements, including:

  • Base compensation
  • Incentive compensation
  • Call pay
  • RVU rates
  • Productivity measures
  • Practice characteristics

Members will be able to compare their information with relevant surgeon data and better understand which elements of their compensation align with available benchmarks.

Help Strengthen Surgeon Compensation Data

Every response helps build a more complete picture of surgeon compensation and enables more meaningful comparisons across specialties, regions, and practice characteristics. The survey takes approximately 10 minutes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who can participate?

The survey is open to ACS Fellows and Associate Fellows in the United States who are currently in practice and have an employment agreement. Residents and training fellows are not eligible because the survey asks participants to provide information about an employment contract.

How long does the survey take?

The survey takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. Plan on completing the survey in one sitting. The survey does not save partial responses.

What information will I need?

The survey asks about elements of your compensation and employment arrangement, including base compensation, incentive compensation, call pay, practice setting, hours, and other contract terms.

Who will have access to the survey results?

Anyone with an active ACS membership can view the results and access the dashboard. Your response is not required for that, but doing so adds your own contract to the picture and enters you in the drawing.

When will the results be available?

ACS Compensation Report and Compensation Dashboard will be available in January 2026.

How does the prize drawing work?

Members who complete the survey by November 14, 2026, will be entered into a drawing for a Resolve physician contract review ($1,099 value).

Your Privacy

Resolve administers the survey on behalf of ACS. Your submission is de-identified on receipt and reported only in aggregate. It is never linked to your membership record, never shared with an employer or recruiter, and never sold. Any group with too few respondents is suppressed rather than published. Visit the Resolve website to review their methodology and privacy summary.
